I thought, and I was taught, that
"Coin Laundry" is a Japanese-English word.
"Wasei-eigo" (literally
"Japanese English") refers to an English word invented in Japan and
not used in English speaking countries.
However, I've seen "Coin Laundry"
signs many times since I came Canada.
I was taught that the word was not a real English
word, If you said "coin laundry" to someone it would be understood as
the facility for washing coins.
Sometimes this kind of misunderstanding
happens.
